Trekking in the Fann Mountains

Day 1. Dushanbe – Seven Lakes (340 km) 

Drive from Dushanbe to the Zerafshan region.

Passing through Varzob, designated tourism zone and onwards through the Istiklol Tunnel, the road follows the path of the Fon River offering spectacular high mountain scenery and fresh air. Picnic lunch enroute. Once you enter the region of the Seven Lakes drive to the beautiful 7th lake "Hazor chashma (“thousand springs”)" (2139m) through the whole lakes. Photo stop on the lakes.

Dinner and overnight in the tent camping on the shore of the 7th lake "Hazor chashma.

 

Day 2. Seven Lake - Tovasang Pass – Archamaydon valley

Breakfast at 6 a.m. Departure at 7 a.m. Trekking from the 7th Lake via Tovasang Pass (3 300 m). Lunch – Picnic on the way.

Dinner and overnight in the tent camping near place Obi Safed at Archamaydon valley.

 

Day 3. Archamaydon valley - Gazza – Zimtud – Guytan

Breakfast at 6 a.m. Departure at 7 a.m. Trekking from Obi Safed via the village Gazza and cross the village Zimtud to the village Guytan. Lunch – Picnic on the way.

Dinner and overnight in the tent camping at the village Guytan.

 

Day 4. Guytan – Chukurak lake - Kuli Kalon Lake

Breakfast at 6 a.m. Departure at 7 a.m. Trekking from Guytan village via Guytan pass (2200 m), easy slope to the “Chukurak” Lake. We will be surrounded by high snow capped mountain, Juniper trees and bushes. Lunch – Picnic. After lunch trekking to “Kuli Kalon” Lake via “Chukurak” pass.

Dinner and overnight in the tent camping on the shore of the “Kuli Kalon” Lake (2800m).

 

Day 5. Kuli Kalon Lake – Alouddin Lake

Breakfast at 6 a.m. Departure 7 a.m. Trekking from “Kuli Kalon” Lake to Aloudin Lake (2750 m) via Alouddin pass.  From here you can enjoy the spectacular panorama of the Fann Mountains, with the high peaks covered by snow. Here is the Kulikalon Plateau. The plateau is dotted with 14 turquoise lakes framed by jagged ridges and summits between 4000m-5000m: Maria (4970m), Mirali (5120m), Rudaki (4900m), Adamtash (4700m) (the four peaks making so called “Kulikalon Wall”), Saryshah (4650m) and Aurondag (4573m).

Lunch – Picnic.

Dinner and overnight in the tent camping on the shore of the turquoise “Alouddin” Lake (2750m).

 

Day 6. Alouddin Lake – Mutnoe Lake – Alouddin Lake

Breakfast at 6 a.m. Departure 7 a.m. Radial trek to Mutnoe Lake (3500 m) and back to Alouddin lake.  camp). Lunch – Picnic.

Dinner and overnight in the tent camping on the shore of the beautiful “Alouddin” Lake (2750m).

 

Day 7. Alouddin Lake – Khujand – oybek (Cross border) (300 km)

Breakfast at 6 a.m. Departure 7 a.m. After breakfast easy slope to “Vertical” base camp where the vehicle is waiting. From the “Vertical” base camp drive to Khujand. Lunch in Khujand. After lunch transfer to Oybek cross border. End of the tour at Oybek cross border.

Average Day: 5–7 hours on good path stopping for lunch
Trekking: The route is not difficult, but will require some energy at times with some river crossing, sometimes on roughly made bridges and rocks

Altitude: from 1800 m to 3500m above the sea level
Climate: In the mountains in July average day time temperature is 20 – 25oc and night time 10 – 15oc
